This is a shout out to my dear friend, Melanie. For my birthday one year (I can't remember which year), Melanie gave me a pot of 6 tiny Japanese Maples. Saplings, really. She knew I admired hers from afar. I'd come over to chat with her on her patio on the occasional evening and dream that one day I would have Japanese Maples of my own. So...she surprised me on my birthday.
My mom has told me, that, though she had high hopes for the young saplings, she didn't believe they would grow into much of anything. I believe she doubted my dedication to my "new kids". Well, having suffered the loss of 3 of those saplings, I have watched 2 grow into beautiful young trees. I showed her. ;-)
Thanks, Mel. For having faith in me. I love them!

Lookin' good! I'm still debating as whether or not I should divide my "grove" as Mel calls it.
ok, I am supposed to be the geek in the family and you girls are way ahead of me on this. How do I drive this thing.

I'm jealous I can't even get the grass in my backyard to grow!
