Dancin' Feet

These feet were made for dancin'. Be it around our house, barefoot in the grass, or sliding around on our kitchen floor. Ever since you were little, Mazzy, you've loved to dance.  You definitely have your own personal, shall we say, style, when it comes to dance: eyes closed, large swaying movements followed by sharp spastic jets and jabs. Your dad and I are never left without entertainment in our home. Often you'll spark something in your brother, making him shake his booty right along with you.

The time has come for you to be introduced to a more formal dance environment; learning actual steps and movements.

It was a special treat for your dad and I to accompany you to your first dance class. It's not often these days that we get to do things "just the three of us"...sitting in the row of chairs lining the dance studio wall, I sat there with your dad and was overcome with feelings of nostalgia. You're our baby, Goobie. And look at you out there in your pink leotard and tights. Ah, I'm so proud of you little lady. You made my heart swell with excitement for all the opportunities you have in front of you. The most important thing to remember is to enjoy yourself.  Enjoy every unique part about you. Even the spastic dance moves. Oh how they make me smile.

I was so proud of yesterday, Roo. You took it all in, carefully following your dance teachers lead; gracefully and precisely bending your limbs to match the lines of the children beside you. You did great.

Oh, goodness, this post made me smile. I can just imagine you and Josh in that row of chairs, huge silly grins on your faces. :) Did you cry? I think I totally would have cried. Or at least teared up. And totally in a good way, out of pure joy and love.

This also takes me back to my childhood dance classes. Mazzy will cherish these memories! In my baby box, that I just unearthed from my parents' house, I found my old ballet slippers and skirt...took me right back to that dance studio. If I didn't have a daughter of my own, I would give Mazzy that dance skirt. It would look so pretty on her. :)

Can't wait to see where dance takes Miss Mazzy in the future! <3

Glad for you that you have this great memory with Mazzilicious...she's such a special girl.

Ali, I can't wait to see Nori in your little skirt and slippers. That will be extra special for you since you used to be a little ballerina. :) I didn't cry, just super dork-ily smiley. :)

Erin, I love how you add things like "wussy pants" to your comments...they make me laugh. So sweet you got teary over the Maz in dance class. You're the bestest auntie. <3

She is so very precious in her leotard. I'm glad to hear you and Josh both got to attend and be observers on her first day. This year has been many first for her doing things independently like school and dance. Her own little Mazzy life. Seriously got me teary too!
